About The Course
This course was written by Patricia Maybery of Horsham U3A and is available for other U3A's in the Victorian Network, free of Charge to use. The course is broken down into topics such as basic computer skills, how to use cloud technology, etc. Resource materials such as powerpoints may also be included and will be noted where relevant in the course. Additional training may direct the user to a 3rd party site such as Canva, Facebook or Beacon University. Beacon University is a WordPress website developed by the tutor to allow students to practise their WordPress skills in a safe environment. If you require access to the University website, please let us know. Trish is a qualified TAFE Trainer and Assessor with over 10 years practical experience in developing and delivering training within the TAFE organisations throughout the Wimmera. In additional she hold a Diploma of Business, Certificates IV in Small Business Management, Information Technology (General) & (Website Design). As part of professional development, she has undertaken more than 30 online courses in marketing, seo certification, creative industries (animation & game design), among others.

Text Alignment

Google Docs allows you to align text in 4 different ways.\

  • Left
  • Centred
  • Rght
  • Justified

By default, all text is allgned to the LEFT.

Changing the Alignment Options

To change the alignment, select the text you wish to change by highlighting it – such as our second paragraph.

And then select one of the four options in the formatting bar at the top.

Clicking on the drop down arrow next to the LEFT ALIGN button on the formatting bar, will reveal the four options. Click on one of the four options usimg your left mouse to select it.

Practise

Try changing all the other paragraphs to see how the text display changes with the different alignment options. 

Changing Fonts

Google includes over 2 dozen standard fonts, and changing fonts is easy.

Highlight the text you wish to change, and click the font options button in the formatting bar.

Your paragraph should now change to the new font.

 

Font Size

You can also change the size of your fonts. With your text highlighted, click the plus or minus keys on the text size options on the formatting bar  – or type the size font you want directly into the box in the middle, or click on the box in the middle to drop down and select a font size.’
