Role & Responsibilities of the Newsletter Editor

About the Role #

The Newsletter Editor is responsible for the creation and distribution of the Newsletter 5 times a year as outlined below

  • Issue 1 – Feb/Mar is distributed in December
  • Issue 2 – April/ May is distributed in March
  • Issue 3 – June/ July is distributed in May
  • Issue 4 – August/September is distributed in July
  • Issue 5 – October./November/December is distributed in September

Production of the Newsletter #

A template for the Newsletter is available on the PC in WORD. The Editor may use this template or use another design/layout of their choice, but the Newsletter must contain the following information.

  • Title page – U3A logo/contacts/mailing requirements/Shelton & Lane notice/space for address labels
  • The President’s Message
  • Important notices/events/regular reminders/changes
  • Photos/commentary relating to our U3A/other U3A’s
  • Class coordinator’s information/timetables
  • Any ongoing segments of member’s involvement or interest

Distribution of the Newsletter #

A member may elect to receive the Newsletter by either POST or EMAIL, this choice is recorded on their Registration form. You will need to ensure you have enough copies for

  • Members
  • Welcome packs
  • Community venues
  • Spares
