If you’ve visited our website recently, you may have noticed a friendly koala waving the Australian flag on our front page. He’s there for a very good reason: to proudly show that this Horsham U3A is in Horsham, Victoria, Australia – not Horsham in the UK!
We know that search engines and directory listings can sometimes cause confusion between the two Horshams, so our koala is now on duty as our “welcome” ambassador, helping visitors see at a glance that they’ve arrived at the Australian Horsham U3A.
Over the coming months, you’ll see him popping up in our newsletters, event notices and promotional material, reminding everyone that Horsham U3A is part of regional Victoria’s vibrant learning community.
All that’s left is one important job – choosing his name.
We’d love members to help us decide. Some suggestions to get us started include:
- Wimmera Willie – a nod to our region.
- Horsham Harry – proudly local.
- Koala Kev – our Aussie flag‑bearer.
- Aussie Arnie – never lets you forget we’re in Australia.
Have another idea? Please send your suggestion to the office or drop it into the suggestion box at the U3A rooms. We’ll announce his official name at an upcoming meeting and on the website.
Until then, keep an eye out for our new mascot – making sure everyone finds the right Horsham U3A, here in Victoria.
