What’s On This Week at Horsham U3A

There’s always something happening at Horsham U3A, and this week is no exception! Whether you’re after a creative outlet, a bit of friendly competition, a good book, or simply a chance to catch up with familiar faces, there’s a place for you in our program. We’d love to see you at any of the activities below — new members are always welcome, so if something catches your eye, come along and join in.

Monday — Book Launch: "Double Spaced Thoughts"

Our Writing for Fun group is celebrating a wonderful milestone this Monday with the launch of their 2025 collection of stories, Double Spaced Thoughts. Join us from 10am at the Waiting Room to hear from the writers themselves, celebrate their hard work over the past year, and pick up a copy of the collection for just $10. It’s a lovely opportunity to support our talented local writers and see the fruits of their creativity in print.

Tuesday — Reading for Pleasure Book Club

Book lovers, mark your calendars! The Reading for Pleasure group will meet from 1.30pm at the Wimmera Library on McLachlan Street. It’s a relaxed and welcoming way to share thoughts on your latest read, discover new titles, and enjoy some good conversation with fellow bookworms.

Wednesday — Nature Watch: A Journey Through Africa and Brazil

Settle in for an armchair adventure this Wednesday, with Nature Watch running from 10am in the Main Room. First up is An Adventure Through Africa, narrated by David Attenborough, taking viewers on an epic continent-wide journey through the Kalahari and Namib deserts, sun-baked savannas, the dense Congo jungles, the northern Sahara, and a glimpse into Africa’s future. This will be followed by Untamed Brazil: The Cradle of Wildlife, a nature documentary exploring the dramatic rhythms of Brazil’s most pristine biomes. A perfect session for anyone who loves the natural world.

Thursday — Scrabble

Fancy testing your vocabulary? Our Scrabble group meets from 1.30pm in the Main Room. Whether you’re a seasoned wordsmith or just enjoy a casual game, everyone’s welcome to pull up a chair and play a round or two.

Friday — Planning Meeting: Have Your Say

Help shape the next six months of Horsham U3A activities! Our Planning Meeting is on Friday from 10am, where the committee will be mapping out upcoming events and programs. Do you have an idea for an activity, outing, or event you’d love to see on the calendar? We want to hear it — please share your suggestions with the committee, either at the meeting or beforehand.
