🏆 A Big Day for Bob — Life Membership Awarded at the AGM

At our Annual General Meeting held on 10 April, long-serving member Bob McIlvena was presented with Life Membership of Horsham U3A — one of our organisation’s highest honours. The presentation was made by Anne Grigg, President of U3A Victoria, alongside our own President June Liddy. It was a wonderful moment and a well-deserved recognition of Bob’s many years of dedication and contribution to our community. The full AGM notes and 2026 Annual Report are available to download on our website.

💻 Tech Classes — Fake Photoshop and AI for Seniors

If you have ever wanted to edit your own photos, now is your chance. Our Technology Tutor Trish Maybery is running a three-week Fake Photoshop masterclass starting Friday 19 June — using completely free software to adjust colours, highlights, shadows and more. No experience needed, and all software and sample files are provided.

And that is not all on the tech front. Trish is also developing a brand new short course on AI for Seniors — exploring how free AI tools can help with everyday tasks like booking appointments, setting reminders, creating art and even improving your writing. If that sounds like something you would like to try, add your name to the expression of interest flyer in the Main Room, or phone Trish on 0407 851 695.

🃏 The Grampians 500 Challenge — A Region Comes Together

What started as a friendly card game has grown into something much bigger. The Grampians 500 Challenge was held on 17 May, bringing together U3A members from Horsham, Stawell, Creswick and Ballarat for a day of competitive cards, good company and a shared lunch. It is exactly the kind of event that shows what U3A is all about — connecting communities and having a genuinely good time doing it. Watch our website for the full write-up and photos.
