This Tuesday, November 11th, we join as a community for Remembrance Day, a moment to reflect, honour, and remember all those who have served and sacrificed in wars, conflicts, and peacekeeping operations.
At 11am, wherever you are, we invite everyone to observe one minute of silence. This simple act connects us with millions across Australia and the world—each of us pausing together to acknowledge the courage and loss of our servicemen and women, and to stand in solidarity for peace.
Why We Remember
Remembrance Day is more than just history—it is a reminder of the value of peace, the importance of community, and the debt we owe to those who gave so much. For many in our U3A community, it is a day that stirs memories and gratitude, for friends, family, and all Australians touched by conflict.
How You Can Participate
- Join in the national minute’s silence at 11am
- Wear a red poppy as a symbol of remembrance
- Reach out to a friend or relative with a memory or kind word
- Reflect quietly, wherever you are
As we gather for our regular activities this Thursday, let’s also take time to remember, to support each other, and to appreciate the freedoms we enjoy today.
