Welcome to a bustling spring season at Horsham U3A! As the weather warms up, nature is waking up around us—though we’ve noticed a few confused trees flowering early amid some unpredictable spring patterns. Despite the weather, our community spirit is as vibrant as ever.
Membership and Community News
Our stable membership sits proudly at 187 members, with only a few address updates noted recently. If you have friends or neighbors thinking about joining, please remind them that new members can join at half-price for this time of the year—a wonderful way to dive into our classes, technology groups, and social activities.
Remembering Helen Fleming
It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our esteemed Life Member, Helen Fleming, on August 31st. Helen dedicated many years of service to the Committee and was widely known for her sharp wit and razor-sharp intellect at the Scrabble board. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, and our thoughts and deepest sympathies go out to Helen’s family.
State Updates and Recent Meetings
- Minister for Seniors Interview: We recently participated in a Zoom Q&A session with the newly appointed Minister for Seniors, the Hon. Nick Staikos, whose impressive background and dedication to seniors left us inspired.
- Seniors Festival Celebration: Please note that this year’s State Conference for U3A has been cancelled. In its place, the focus shifts to the exciting Seniors Festival Celebration Day at Federation Square on Saturday, October 3rd.
