March Awareness (1)

March Awareness

Hello March – and hello to a fresh month of learning, creating and connecting at Horsham U3A.

March brings a whole bouquet of themes we can tap into in our classes and conversations. With Crochet and Craft Month on the calendar, it is the perfect time to dust off those hooks, knitting needles, paints and glue guns and share skills with one another. Whether you are a complete beginner or have been crafting for years, there is always something new to try and someone new to encourage.

It is also Irish Heritage Month and Women in History Month, which gives us rich opportunities for stories, discussion groups and armchair travel sessions. From Irish music and folklore to remarkable women who changed the world, these themes fit beautifully with our love of history and lifelong learning.

March is also recognised as Red Cross Month and Colon Cancer Awareness Month. At Horsham U3A we value practical, community-minded action, so we will be highlighting both the work of the Red Cross and the importance of regular health checks. Yesterday a small team of members recorded a short video about the role of the Red Cross in our region, and we have uploaded it to our YouTube channel.

You can watch the Red Cross video below.
