Exciting Activities at Horsham U3A This Week

There are plenty of activities to see and do at Horsham U3A this week, for a full listing see the event calendar or our Timetable page for the whole month’s planned activities.

This week, the Writing for Fun Group have planned to create a story involving the entire group. One person starts the story by writing a sentence, and the next person has to fill in the next paragraph and so on around the table. It’s bound to be lots of fun for the participants. With such a variety of writing styles and ideas, it’s bound to be very creative!

On Tuesday the Reading for Pleasure group will resume with their fortnightly activities at the Wimmera Library. Come along and share your favourite books or authors. Perhaps they will appear in the best books of the year as voted on Goodreads! https://www.goodreads.com/choiceawards/best-books-2024

Wednesday, the Nature Watch team will be back with two fantastic presentations by David Attenborough. Starting at 10am with Reptiles & Amphibians – From icy wastes to arid deserts, reptiles and amphibians have been able to master the harshest of environments. As an example, you will see Komodo dragons hunting buffalo, the seemingly suicidal leaps of a waterfall toad. This is to be followed by the amazing Wild China: Tibet. The size of Western Europe, the Tibetan plateau covers a quarter of China. This vast windswept wilderness is one of the world’s most remote places, defined by the glacier-strewn Himalayas. But this brutal region is home to incredible wildlife such as rare chiru, brown bear, wild yak, and even the highest predators on earth. There are more large creatures here than anywhere else in China.

Thursday will have our usual programs with Sounds of Music, Patchwork & Stitch and Scrabble. Plus we will be drawing the Easter Raffle. There is still time to get tickets, $2 each in the Main Room.

There will be no classes scheduled for Friday due to the Good Friday public Holiday. Please check with your tutor if classes will be on. There will be another public holiday next Friday as well, due to ANZAC day.

See the listing below for the full list of classes and workshops on this week, or check out the timetable page for the monthly listing, including special events.
