Last Thursday our Mosaics group brought the craft room to life with colour, pattern and plenty of chatter. Around the tables you could see members carefully placing tiny tiles, glass pieces and beads, slowly watching their designs come together over a cuppa and a laugh.
Some were working on brand‑new projects, while others were adding the finishing touches to garden pavers, coasters and other designs. It was lovely to see how different each piece looked – from bold, bright abstracts to softer floral designs – all created with the same simple materials and a lot of patience.
For many of our members, mosaics is as much about the company as the craft. There’s time to share ideas, swap tips and encourage each other when a piece is being a bit stubborn. Newcomers are always made to feel welcome, and no previous experience is needed – just a willingness to have a go and maybe get a little glue on your fingers.
If you’d like to try mosaics yourself, contact the office for details of session times and availability.
