Welcome December at Horsham U3A

December has arrived, bringing warm days, festive gatherings and lots of opportunities to connect, learn and create at Horsham U3A. Our featured image celebrates some fun themes for the month: Art & Architecture Month, Fruitcake Month, Read a New Book Month, and Write to a Friend Month.

These themes fit beautifully with what our members already enjoy. Art & Architecture Month might inspire you to sketch a favourite building in Horsham, revisit memories of a special place, or simply notice the details of the streets you walk every day. Fruitcake Month is a light-hearted reminder of all the baking, recipe swapping and morning-tea conversations that help make this time of year feel special.

Read a New Book Month is a perfect nudge to pick up something different—perhaps our own Double Spaced Thoughts 2025 collection, a library novel, or a non-fiction book that opens up a new topic for the new year. And Write to a Friend Month invites us to reach out with a card, letter or email to someone we haven’t spoken to in a while; a short note can mean a lot, especially over the festive season.

Throughout December, Horsham U3A activities will continue to offer plenty of chances to bring these ideas to life—through discussion groups, writing and art sessions, social mornings and end-of-year celebrations. As you look at the sparkling decorations in our featured image, think about one simple way you might mark each of these themes this month.

From the committee and group leaders, warm wishes for a joyful December. May it be a month of creativity, friendship and a few slices of fruitcake along the way!
