This new volume gathers the words, memories and imaginings of local writers who meet simply for the joy of putting pen to paper and sharing their work with friends
A Special Dedication to Avis Dehnolm
This 2025 collection is lovingly dedicated to the memory of Avis Dehnolm, a much‑loved member of Writing for Fun. Avis brought kindness, curiosity and quiet determination to every meeting, always ready with a supportive word and a listening ear. Her love of language and her willingness to have a go inspired many newer writers to share their own stories.
In dedicating Double Spaced Thoughts 2025 to Avis, our group acknowledges the gentle but powerful impact she had on our circle. Her presence is felt in the warmth of our gatherings, in the courage to read aloud, and in the way we now encourage one another as she encouraged us. This book stands as a small tribute to a generous spirit who believed that everyone has a story worth telling.
About the Writing for Fun Group
Writing for Fun is a Horsham U3A group that welcomes anyone who enjoys words, whether they are seasoned writers or just starting out. We experiment with prompts, share works‑in‑progress, and explore different forms of writing in a relaxed, supportive atmosphere. There are no marks, no pressure and no “right way” to write—only encouragement to keep creating and to enjoy the process.
Members often say that the group has given them renewed confidence, new friendships and a reason to look at everyday life with a writer’s eye. Double Spaced Thoughts 2025 reflects that spirit: it is as much about community as it is about the final polished pieces. Each page captures something of the fun, fellowship and quiet pride that grows when people come together to write.
